We head back to formal learning in just 5 short days. I have been busy prepping our school room and printing and planning lessons. You can peek at our Plan of Study and see what we are learning.
Our school hours are from 7:00AM - 3:00PM. Yes, it is a long day but the benefits of our classical schooling are paying off. Marie has already been accepted into her first choice college in Michigan, while Madison blew me away with her test scores showing her grade knowledge equivalent to a student in the fourth month of 11th grade. Wowzers! I was equally pleased with everyone's scores and am encouraged by the progress the girls are making. Including Mikayla’s math knowledge even though she doesn't like math, but her brain sure does :-)
My older two girls are ready to go by 7AM and this year I will also be transitioning Mikayla into an earlier start too. Still trying to see how that will work though because of her training hours but school comes first so we will make it work. My younger girls do not do school this entire time, they are usually complete with their studies before lunch if we are on task. However, it takes me all of this time to teach, correct, and read aloud to Mikayla, Montana, and McKenzie. I will be honest here and say that my brain is done most days by 3PM and I need a break before the evening activities start.
Homeschooling might seem difficult at times, but so are a lot of things in life, in the end it will be a lifetime reward. Maybe you didn't have the best year last year or you missed some goals. Don’t be too hard on yourself, it’s OKAY! I encourage you to embrace this time of the year, as it offers new beginnings and a fresh start.
I have seen my girls excel within our homeschooling adventures Even when we have had hard days, and there will be hard days. Days when you may shed a few tears. Just remember that it all comes down to having faith. No, not my baby Faith, but FAITH-Faith is the confident belief or trust in the truth of or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing. Got Faith? We do, and the Lord will guide your teaching. We just have to be obedient and follow his guidance. That is the only way we will succeed.
I am excited to pass along a few duplicate books I found while preparing our school rooms. I have four books to pass along to one of my readers, Family-Time Bible, Blueberries for Sal, The Year at Maple Hill Farm, and Little Bear. I hope these books bless your home school as they have for us. All of the books are in used, like new condition. To enter to win just follow the Rafflecopter.
