TOS Review ~ Easy Classical

easy_classical[6] Have you ever looked into providing your children with a classical education based off of Susan Wise Bauer’s book, The Well Trained Mind: A Guide to Classical Education at Home and then researched the amount of planning and compiling of resources it all takes and been discouraged? Well, be discouraged no more because Easy Classical has done all the hard work for you!

My task for this review was to evaluate the schedule rather than implementing the schedule into our home school.  Let me tell you I love a good schedule and this one definitely fits the bill for me. I was sent the digital edition of the Easy Classical’s Early Modern History Schedule that covers historical period from the Explorer’s to the American Revolution.

The website states:

All the hard work is done for you. We have researched classical curriculum choices, integrated subjects, and tested the schedules for ease of use. Easy Classical schedules break a full year of education down into specific, daily assignments that are adaptable to fit all styles of learning. You will cover everything simply by following the schedule. Lesson plans for history, science, language arts, physical education, and even art are included at no extra charge.

Easy Classical schedules are based off the use of living books that are the foundation in the classical teaching model, those such as The Story of the World, Veritas Press History Cards, Story of the Republic and more.  Sandra Williams has done all the hard work involved with planning for a classical education for you.  Day by day lesson plans provide a schedule of  copy work  and geography pages, a reading schedule, and writing pages based on the IEW (Institute for Excellence in Writing) approach are included and cover everything  you need in your school except math, Bible, science, or a formal spelling program.  But don’t worry they give you suggestions for those subjects as well, so you’re covered.

The Early Modern History schedule includes:

  • 36 weekly schedules
  • comprehension quizzes and answers
  • drawing activities
  • hands-on project ideas
  • weekly supply lists

So, you’re probably thinking that this must be really expensive, right? Not at all! Easy Classical is economically priced at $29.99 for a digital edition and $35.95 for a printed notebook edition.

If you’re looking for a Classical educational approach with the ease of planning, then Easy Classical may be just what your looking for.  To see what other members of The Old Schoolhouse Review Crew thought, click HERE.
